MUMBAI: A 30-year-old Nagpur resident who abused chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray and Shiv Sena minister Nitin Raut and mocked their functioning on twitter was booked.
V P Road police on Monday booked Sameer Thakkar under Indian Penal Code sections for defamation and circulating an obscene article, writings, drawing or any other representation and under Information Technology Act.
Police said they had issued summons to Thakkar to appear at the station to record his statement.
A complaint by Sena legal advisor Dharam Mishra alleged that Thakkar through @thakkar_sameet posted a picture of Uddhav and Aditya and compared him to a Mughal ruler in June and July. He abused Raut too.
“Mishra said Sameet abused them on a public domain and not only insulted them but made a mockery of government,” said senior inspector Gulabrao More.
