The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday sought the intervention of Telangana police after the actor reached out to the commission on Twitter.

The actor alleged that she was abused and received rape threats on social media from Jr NTR fans. “#FIR has been registered by @hydcitypolice through @NCWIndia intervention and a request has also been sent to @TwitterIndia for deletion of objectionable content,” NCW tweeted.
The cybercrime police said there were nearly eight Twitter users trolling her, and that most of the accounts were deactivated soon after the comments were posted. “The messages were highly abusive and obscene. We are still investigating the case. Most of the accounts trolling her were fake,” said KVM Prasad, ACP, cybercrime. Cybercrime police registered a case under sections 509 and 506 of IPC and relevant sections of the IT Act.
