Birhor man mauled by sloth bear | Ranchi News

Daltonganj: A 45-year-old Birhor man was injured after he was attacked by a sloth bear in Palamu Tiger Reserve’s (PTR) Pahar Kapu forests. Banaa Asur is recovering in a hospital after the attack and authorities have given him compensation for treatment.
Asur ventured into the forest to gather wild mushrooms in the morning when the bear attacked him. He was injured in the face.
Mahuadarn forest range officer Brinda Pandey said, “The man was caught unawares after he ventured close to the bear’ s location. A few of his colleagues heard Asur’s calls for help and rescued him. He was taken to the Mahudran community centre from where he was referred to the Latehar sadar hospital. He is recovering from his injuries.”
PTR (south division) deputy director Mukesh Kumar said the injured has been given Rs 5,000 cash as compensation for his injuries.
