CBI books Delhi firm for hosting child porn sites | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: The CBI has registered an FIR against a west Delhi-based company on charges that it hosted websites containing objectionable material pertaining to child sexual abuse.
The agency has conducted searches at its premises located in Paschim Vihar area and recovered incriminating evidence, it said. The FIR has been registered under sections of the Information Technology Act and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
According to CBI officials, the company allegedly hosted websites of Russian domain containing objectionable material pertaining to child abuse and exploitation. “The case involves the alleged jurisdiction of India, Netherlands and Russian Federation as of now vis-a-vis the location of servers, facilitation of hosting of objectionable material and owner of the objectionable contents,” the official said.
“Searches were conducted at the residence-cum-office premises of the accused including a private company and its directors in Delhi which led to recovery of electronic devices and incriminating documents and material,” said a CBI spokesperson. The case is being probed by a special unit that the CBI had set up last year to probe case of online child sexual abuse and exploitation.
The unit has been tasked to collect, collate and disseminate information regarding publication, transmission, creation, collection, seeking, browsing, downloading, distribution of information relating to this offence.
