CBSE Class 10 results: Tamil Nadu tops in pass percentage

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu topped among the states in CBSE Class X exam results which were declared on Wednesday. The state secured 99.61% pass percentage.

Tamil Nadu was followed by Andhra Pradesh (99.44%) and Kerala (99.30%).

Among the regions, Thiruvananthapuram topped with 99.28% pass while Chennai region came second with 98.95%.

Of the 62,260 students who appeared for the exam in Tamil Nadu, 62,019 cleared them. The pass percentage of girls is 99.85% while 99.42% of boys passed the exam.

R Srinivasa Raghavan, principal of Bala Vidyamandir Senior Secondary School in Adyar, said students had performed better in the Class X exams.

“Of the 106 students, 44% of them have scored above 90% marks. On an average, the students secured more than 85% in many subjects. Mathematics and Sanskrit have many centums this year,” he said.

Bhavans Rajaji Vidhyashram too recorded impressive results in Class X. “Of 261 students who appeared for the exam, 108 students secured more than 90% marks in Class X. The school has 17 centums in maths and 12 centums in Sanskrit,” he added.

Many school principals said several students have scored high marks and it may give them headache while allotting streams in Class XI.
