Chennai Coronavirus News: 42 shops in Alandur zone asked to close for flouting social distancing norms | Chennai News

CHENNAI: As many as 42 shops in zone 12 (Alandur zone) have been asked to shut in the past two days after Chennai Corporation officials found that physical distancing norms were flouted and safety precautions such as wearing masks were not followed.
Zonal officials said medical camps had been held in 22 locations in the zone over the past week, which benefited more than 1,500 people. Such camps will be held in five locations every day in the coming week, officials said.
“We have held talks with resident welfare associations and traders’ associations regarding the dos and don’ts,” said an official release.
Alandur zone, which comprises 12 wards (156-167), is one of the least affected zones in the city and has recorded only 243 cases till date.
