Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu breaches 25,000 case mark, reports 11 more deaths | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu breached the 25,000 mark by reporting 1,286 fresh Covid-19 cases on Wednesday. The state’s Covid-19 tally has reached 25,872. It is for the fourth consecutive day that the state is reporting more than 1,000 cases.
The state reported 11 more deaths, and the toll has reached 208.
Of the 1,286 new cases, 1,244 were registered within the state while 42 were returnees from other states.
In Chennai, the number rose by 1012, its highest one-day spike so far. With these, the city’s overall case tally touched 17,598. There have been 158 deaths in the city so far.
Chennai’s neighbours Chengalpet reported 61 cases while Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur recorded 19 and 58 new cases, respectively.
Thiruvannamalai and Tuticorin registered 21 and 17 cases, respectively.
At airports, 15 international passengers (two from the UAE and 13 from Dubai), four domestic passengers (three from Gujarat and one from Karnataka) tested positive. Among those who travelled by train and road, there were five from Delhi, two from Karnataka and 16 from Maharashtra tested positive. So far 135 domestic and international passengers, 245 people who travelled by train and 1,344 others who have travelled by road have tested positive for the viral infection.
The state discharged 610 patients on Wednesday, taking the total number of cured patients to 14,316. As many as 11,345 people are under treatment.
