Aparshakti spilled the beans on his relationship with his dear daddy, the qualities he would like to imbibe from him and also let us in on a naughty childhood secret involving his big brother Ayushmann Khurrana. Excerpts…

What does Father’s Day mean to you?

My father means everything to me and especially all my work ethics come from him. All the discipline which Ayushmann and I are trying to follow at work comes from him. He is a workaholic. We have never seen him taking off from work. I think that is what keeps us going as well. I think he is busier than me (laughs) and I think that is what brings out the best in us.

Describe your relationship with your father.

The relationship with my father is quite friendly now. I think till the time Ayushmann and I were in college, and the first few years of our professional lives, he was very strict with us. The moment he saw that we were serious with our work, he got very friendly with us and stopped scolding us for little things or interfering in our matters.

Can you share any incident that you got a scolding from your dad?

Recently he yelled at me. We were all in Lucknow, and I was shooting for ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, and bhaiya (Ayushmann) was shooting for his next. I had a 7 am call time, and I was not on time. He is very particular about discipline, as I said.

What is the one trait of your father that you would love to imbibe?

I am already exactly like my father. I don’t know if there’s any trait left which I haven’t got from him. I absolutely love that I am exactly like him.

Who is your father stricter with Ayushmann or you?

Of course, he was always more strict with me. I mean with these naughty eyes, I had to be the centre of attraction for all the wrong reasons (laughs).

If you could change one thing about your father what would it be?

There is nothing I would want to change about my father. I think no son would like to change anything about his father.
