Himachal Pradesh: House gutted in fire in Banjar | Shimla News

The loss is stated to be in lakhs and short-circuit is being considered the reason behind the incident.

MANALI: A double-storey house in Adesha village of Kalwari panchayat in Banjar sub-division of Himachal Pradesh was gutted in fire on Sunday morning.
The house, made with traditional kath-kuni architecture where timber is used as main construction material, was destroyed completely. Villagers with help of fire services doused the fire after a lot of efforts and saved adjacent houses including a temple. According to villagers, the fire broke out in the house of Dile Ram at about 9am when nobody was present in the house.
The two-storey house with attic on the roof had eight rooms. Another house of Chet Ram was partially damaged in the incident. The villagers climbed to the roofs of the nearby houses and started removing the slates from the room. Some villagers brought out agriculture spray machines to spray water on the house.
Police and officials from revenue department reached the spot. The loss is stated to be in lakhs and short-circuit is being considered the reason behind the incident.
Banjar SDM MR Bhardwaj said, “The fire has been controlled. Officials from revenue department are assessing the losses. An immediate relief to the victim is being provided as per government manual,” he said.
