Ludhiana reports 1,338 new Covid-19 cases, 32 deaths | Ludhiana News

LUDHIANA: Deputy commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Saturday informed that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of Covid-19 patients getting cured in district Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day.
He said that there are 11,368 active patients in the district at present.
The deputy commissioner said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid-19. He added that a total of 1,338 patients (1,223 new patients from district Ludhiana and 115 from other states/districts) have tested positive in the last 24 hours.
He further said that till date, a total of 10,62,301 samples have been taken, out of which a report of 10,61,776 samples have been received, of which 9,87,632 samples were found negative while reports of 525 samples were pending.
“The total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 65,266, while 8,878 patients belong to other districts/states,” said the deputy commisioner.
He said that 32 patients lost their lives today (19 from district Ludhiana while one each from districts Gurdaspur, Patiala, Pathankot, Sangrur, Fazilka, Fatehgarh Sahib, Barnala, state Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and 4 from Delhi). The total number of persons who lost their lives include 1,528 people from Ludhiana and 776 from other districts.
The deputy commisioner said that whenever the district administration and health department, Ludhiana finds out about any positive or suspected Covid-19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 9,920 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing on Saturday.
Sharma appealed to the residents to adhere all the safety protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands frequently of the Punjab government to not only save themselves but keeping everyone around safe.
