
The state reported 76 deaths on Monday, taking its toll to 2,362, of which 40 were in Mumbai. The city’s toll is 1,319.
Maharashtra had reported its first 10,000 cases on April 30, 53 days after the first Covid cases was reported, and the journey from 10,000 to 70,000 was completed in merely 32 days. However, the state government said the number of active cases in the state were 37,534, and the remaining patients have been treated and discharged. “We are rigorously following ICMR guidelines regarding testing and discharge protocols, and it is showing results. Our doubling rate has improved considerably and is over 17 days, and our rate of recovery too has gone up at least three times as compared to March,” health minister Rajesh Tope said.
