MUMBAI: A biker was killed a few hours after a tanker ran over his legs in Andheri (East) on Tuesday. The incident occurred at around 5.15pm at Vijay Nagar Junction in Marol-Maroshi locality when the victim, Vinodkumar Chouhan (45), was riding along with his friend Shashikant Sherekar who was riding pillion. MIDC police arrested the tanker driver Siyaram Yadav (24)immediately after the incident.
Chouhan was returning to Mira Road along with his friend after attending some work when the incident occurred. “The tanker hit the Chouhan’s bike from behind and he lost control over and the bike slipped. The heavy vehicle’s rear tyre ran over Chouhan’s legs immediately after he was thrown off the bike,” said a police officer of the MIDC police station.
Chouhan was rushed to the Holy Spirit Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. In the complaint, Sherekar said, “Chouhan was thrown off after the tanker hit their bike.” The tanker driver has been booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 279 (Rash driving) and 304 (A) (causing death by negligence).
