Mumbai: Nurse returning from work killed in hit and run accident | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: In a hit and run case a 35-year-old nurse who was returning after from her work, was killed when a unknown vehicle hit her near a bus stop on Eastern Express highway in Ghatkopar on late Monday.
The Pant Nagar police later identified the woman as Shehnaaz Tahir Khan, a resident of BMC Chawl at Kamraj Nagar in Ghatkopar east. Police said that later they learned that she was a nurse working with Kokilaben hospital in south Mumbai.
The Pant Nagar police said that they have registered an offence against a unknown car for death due to negligence, rash and negligence driving and under the motor vehicle act and are probing the matter.
According to the police, the deceased woman khan was dropped by hospital on the highway and she was walking towards her residence as there was no autos were not plying due to the lockdown on Monday night when a unknown vehicle hit her.
While the driver of the vehicle fled away, the woman lay injured until a local alerted the police. Police rushed her to Rajawadi hospital but it was too late. She died with multiple injuries on Tuesday.
A eye witness has given the description and registration number of the suspected white colour car. “Police are scanning the CCTV footages of nearby vicinity to trace the driver of the car and are hopeful to nab him,” Said Suhash Kamble senior inspector of Pant nagar police.
