Ranchi police begin probe into ‘murder’ of Persian cat | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Police have started a probe into the death of a Persian male cat, arguably the first such case in recent years here. An FIR relating to the death has been registered under Section 428 and Section 429 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at Lower Bazar Police Station. A resident of Kantatoli, Sabbir Hussain, in his complaint filed on the night of October 20 said that his Persian cat went missing and was later found dead outside the gate of his house.
City DSP Amit Singh said, “We have sent a team to the locality on Thursday. Autopsy on the carcass was carried out on Wednesday and the report is awaited.”
Hussain said: “On the morning of August 20, I woke up to find that the cat had gone missing. During a search, it was found dead near the garage. The entire family is shocked and grieved by the incident. Miscreants may have strangled it.”
“It was a beautiful pet. If someone has deliberately killed him, it is condemnable,” he added.
