‘Kabir Singh’ was one of the biggest hits of 2019 and also hit headlines for all the wrong reasons. Celebrating a year of the film, Shahid Kapoor
penned a heartfelt note for fans who supported the movie, he shared, “To all those who gave so much overwhelming love to such a complex, conflicted character. Thank you. #kabirsingh was never just a film to me.. it was an emotional arc that was raw.. bare.. unabashed .. honest .. fearless .. REAL!! In a time where people are quick to judge (others not themselves ) you understood him. You understood our interpretation of the angst of a broken heart. This one will always be special. So so special. Thank you all once again. And remember. Keep it real and make it count. Be kind. Be good. Spread positivity. And always believe.”
Shahid essayed the titular character in ‘Kabir Singh’ which was a remake of Telugu hit ‘Arjun Reddy’, featuring Vijay Deverakonda. The film faced a lot of flak and was slammed for portraying toxic masculinity. Earlier, Kiara Advani had also posted throwback pictures from ‘Kabir Singh’, celebrating a year of the film.
Interestingly, Shahid Kapoor’s next film is also a remake of a hit Telugu film. He will be seen essaying the role of a retired cricketer in ‘Jersey’. The sports drama is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and Shahid had been shooting for the film before the lockdown was announced in March.
