Two more held in Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case | Thiruvananthapuram News

KOCHI: Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive) (CCP) probing the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case arrested two more persons late on Wednesday night.
The arrested persons have been identified as 43-yr-old Mohammed Anwar TM and 60-yr-old Said Alavi E. Both are from Malappuram.
On Tuesday night, customs had arrested, Jalal A M (38), Mohammed Shafi P (37) and Hamjad Ali (51). According to customs sleuths, with the arrests, they are closing in on the end destination of the gold. A jeweller is also learnt to be in the custody of Customs. Meanwhile, the additional chief judicial magistrate court (economic offences) would consider the bail petition moved by accused Sarith on Thursday.
The case pertains to the alleged misuse of diplomatic channel at Thiruvananthapuram airport to smuggle in huge quantities of gold. Sarith, Swapna, Sandeep and Ramees are the main accused in the case.
