Two teenagers drown in river near TN’s Cumbum | Madurai News

CHENNAI: Two teenagers drowned in the Periyar river near Cumbum in Theni district of Tamil Nadu on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as G Gautham, 19, a polytechnic student, and his friend, B Pragadeeswaran, 17. The duo, who were residents of Cumbum, went to take bath in the Periyar river in the morning with their friends, Kesavan and Srijith.
Gautham and Pragadeeswaran did not know swimming. The duo drowned when they entered the deeper part of the river.
Their friends tried to save them, but in vain. On being alerted, local people rushed there and recovered the bodies.
The Lower Camp police registered a case.
