LUCKNOW: UP government has started scanning last one year’s call detail records (CDR) of Vikas Dubey’s cell phone to decipher who all had helped him build his empire. The government has also ordered a probe to find out how the ganglord got arms licences despite over 60 criminal cases pending against him.
On Wednesday the government defined the ambit of the probe underway by a threemember SIT and the one being done by a retired high court judge. The government has also ensured that all those who gave patronage to the slain don should not be spared. As a result, the call detail record (CDR) of the last one year of Vikas Dubey and his associates has been started. It will reveal the record of all the police personnel who came in contact with Dubey.
Within 48 hours of Dubey’s encounter, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath set up a judicial commission and an SIT for an independent and transparent probe.
A petition was filed against the government in the High Court (Lucknow Bench) on behalf of Nandita Bharti in Lucknow for a thorough investigation into the Vikas Dubey encounter but got rejected as the government had already set up two independent commissions.
The mandate of the SIT covers pertinent issues like what effective action was taken to punish the don and his associates? What action was taken towards the cancellation of his bail with such a detailed criminal history?
